USDA/AMS Issues Proposed Rule for Sampling and Inspection of Food Containers

The first revisions since 1983 for statistical sampling and inspection of food containers - Standards for Condition of Food Containers – have been issued for comment by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (USDA/AMS).

We post the Federal Register Notice below. However, it is necessary to review the Definitions in 7 CFR 42.102 (which we also post below for our reader’s convenience) in order to understand the Federal Register Notice.

For reference purposes, the standards (1983) appear in 7 CFR 42.101-42.143
