The GAO (Government Accountability Office), the investigative arm of the US Congress, has issued another report in its series of analyses of the performance of USFDA and USDA in the protection of US consumers with respect to Food Safety risks. The report is sharply critical of FDA's performance in making the key decisions need to deploy limited resources in the most effective manner. This report should cause FDA to re-evaluate its priorities in the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act.
